Summary box: lenders to repay owners (AP)

WASHINGTON - foreclosure rebates ordered: the Federal Government ordered 16 largest mortgage lenders and services to reimburse the owners who have improperly barred to the nation.

MAJOR banks cited: Citibank, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo, the four largest banks in the country, were among the companies financial, cited in the joint report by three federal regulatory agencies.

No amount of MAX: lenders have 45 days to hire an outside auditor to investigate seizures potentially bad and will be "clean up any financial damage to borrowers," dating from 2009 and 2010. No minimum or maximum amount has been specified.
