FTSE climbs 1.03% at open (AFP)

London (AFP) - London shares rose strongly in early trading on Wednesday, extending their recovery after a downturn earlier in the week.

The benchmark FTSE 100 index rose to 1.03% to 5,957.87 points at transactions at the beginning.

Traders said bargain hunters sought to pick up cheaper stocks following sharp falls of about 2% Monday when the decommissioning of S & P of its perspectives on investors frightened us debt already concerned about tensions on the pressures of the debt of the euro area.

"Investor sentiment is still shadow by notice downbeat (Monday) of the United States by Standard & Poor," said trader IG Index Ben Critchley.
