How the major stock indexes fared Wednesday (AP)

Some signs of us economic growth was not sufficient to halt a slide a week on the stock market Wednesday. A survey published by the Federal Reserve showed that the pace of recovery is uneven across the country. The report added to the concerns which have been built since mid-April that the US economy is stalling.

The Dow Jones index fell 21.87, or 0.2%, to 12,048.94.

The Standard and Poor 500 5.38 of lost, or 0.4%, to 1,279.56.

The Nasdaq composite slipped 26.18, or 1%, to 2,675.38.

For the week:

The Dow Jones index is 012.32, or 0.8%.

The S & P is 20.60, 1.6%.

The Nasdaq is 57.40, 2.1%.

For the year to date:

The Dow Jones index is at 471.43, or 4.1%.

The S & P is 21.92, or 1.7 per cent.

The Nasdaq is 22.51, or 0.8%.
