Athens (AFP) - Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou said Sunday his country will overcome the economic crisis ""despite the difficulties"that still confront a year after a rescue EU and the IMF."

"We will fight against the pessimism and we will succeed," the Prime Minister said on public television, adding "we will succeed in creating a country of justice and development".
In a separate message, Greek President Karolos Papoulias said he hoped "the resurrection of Christ helps the Greek people to overcome their difficulties."

With the impending insolvency of a year ago, Athens was forced to appeal to his peers in the European Union and the Monetary Fund International for a loan of 110 billion euros ($159 billion) bailout in exchange for a review of its economy.
