"In General, we know that developing medium-term are certainly a claim to the position of head of the IMF as well the World Bank", said Ms Merkel in Berlin.
"I believe, however, that in the current phase, there is good reason for Europe to have good willing candidates."

In a previous regular press conference, spokesman for Merkel Steffen Seibert said that europe had no automatic right to the top IMF job, but that the region had a case of a successor of terroir.
