FTSE slips 0.15% to close (AFP)

London (AFP) - London stocks ended lower Friday, at the end of a volatile week for equities.

Index FTSE 100 in London of main actions dragged 0.15% at the end of the day at 5,948.49 points.

Lloyds Banking Group was the most commonly traded stock of the day, with 170 million units changing hands in brisk trade. It was followed by Vodafone, which has seen 104 million shares to switch owners.

Associated British Foods, international food giant, has been the best performer of blue chip of the day, rising 33 pence (3.12%) to finish at 1,090.

It was followed by BP, who obtained 12.1 pence, or 2.71%, at the end of the day at 460.

Shares in energy giant shot after it announced that it had recovered $ 1.065 billion (£ 0.656 billion) in costs related to the Mexico Gulf oil spill devastating year last a U.S. subsidiary of Japanese trade house Mitsui & Co.
